Case History #4 Power---Hoover-Dam.jpg+ - STILL NEED TEXT

胡佛水坝

The Hoover Dam, located on the Colorado River, is located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas.  Close to one million visitors tour the facility each year.

The Hoover Dam and power plant is a concrete thick-arch structure, 726.4 feet high and 1,244 feet long at the crest.  Water for generation is conveyed through four penstocks from four intake structures immediately upstream and contiguous to the dam.  The powerplant consists of 17 main Francis turbine generators and two Pelton Waterwheel station service units.  The total plant capacity is 2,079 MW.

When the US Army Corps of Engineers required maintenance on the Hoover Dam, Sherwin-Williams and Hartman Walsh met the project stringent needs.  This five year project included refurbishing the interior linings throughout the penstock system.  The Hoover Dam main tunnels were prepared using UHP waterjetting at 40,000 psi to profile the concrete to the original profile.  The use of UHP waterjetting eliminated the containment of blast media, enhanced substrate cleanliness, and promoted adhesion.
